Fly-Zone in an ancient
Oz-Arkian sink-hole at Cupola Pond.

The thousand-lensed eyes of this Drosophilian visitor check out a humanoid giant from the recording team before taking flight and seeking refuge in the darkly oozing interior of Cupola Pond. This sinkhole swamp is said to have remained unchanged for at least 20,000 years.

Although not actually plants, the lichens under the fly's legs were the first plant-like organisms to move onto bare rock. These lichens thrive in close association between a parasitic fungus and a host alga or bacterium on which they feed. They were among the first wave of pioneers to colonize this region.
